For over one week now, viewers of The Morning Show on Arise Television have noticed something, or someone, missing. Rufai Oseni, one of the show’s most recognizable anchors, hasn’t been on screen, and his absence quickly became a topic of speculation online.
Before long, social media was full of confident rumours suggesting he had been suspended. Some even claimed there had been a silent fallout behind the scenes.
But Rufai has now responded. And according to him, all of that talk is completely untrue.
In several posts shared on his X account on Friday, he made it clear that there is no controversy behind his time off.
“There was no suspension,” he wrote. “I simply went on leave.”
He explained that the break had already been announced on the station before he stepped away, and that he took time off because he had worked non-stop for nearly a year. The rumours, he added, were “pure fabrications.”
With his signature blend of English and Nigerian street expressions, he joked about the situation and reassured his supporters:
“After I rest small, I go return. I appreciate the love, honestly.”
His tone was relaxed: no anger, just clarity, and a hint of amusement at how quickly misinformation spreads.
For now, Rufai says he’s enjoying some rest and will return as soon as his leave ends.
The reason his absence sparked so much online attention is simple: Rufai Oseni is not a passive presenter. Over time, he has earned a reputation as one of the boldest voices in Nigeria’s broadcast landscape. Sharp, direct, and unapologetically firm when questioning those in power.
To his supporters, he represents what journalism should be: fearless, factual, and unafraid to challenge authority. To others, his style can sometimes feel intense or confrontational. But even those critics agree he brings energy, depth, and accountability to the national conversation.
And that’s why only a few days without him felt loud. People noticed. People speculated. People waited for answers. Now they have one: nothing dramatic happened. Rufai Oseni is simply resting. And he’ll be back.
We at The Naija Broadcastar wish you a well-deserved rest, Rufai, and we look forward to your return.
